My work has always taken its inspiration from the atmosphere and feel of a place or situation.The colours are a direct result of felt experience.  Earlier work shows a direct expressionist approach, an outburst of feeling to capture the moment.  The most recent work shows a radical change.  From a fast burst of energy in bright colours, laid on in impasto, to a long considered glazing technique.  Still the impasto is there to create textured lights, but colours are glazed over with the understanding of how one layer will affect subsequent coats.  The technique is long drawn out and must be approached in a slow meditative way, unlike the original technique, but still the use of colours shine through, to give a personal, individual style.
